Morwell River Falls
Tucked away just out of Boolarra, Morwell River Falls is a place of peace. This is an oasis of native bush and its remote location is part of its charm. From Boolarra South, follow the unsuspecting gravel road. It might feel like you’re heading nowhere, but trust the process… the road from Boolarra South is well signed.

Wilson's Promontary
Known lovingly as The Prom, the national park forms a peninsula with a magnificent blend of landscapes: granite-studded hills meet white sand beaches, and fiery orange lichen boulders contrast with the brilliant turquoise waters. A place of fern gullies, windswept sand dunes and flourishing wildlife, there are few places you can feel more away from it all.
Yinnar Community Garden
Take a relaxing amble through the Yinnar Community Gardens, filled with fruit trees, garden plots and sculptures and mosiac art.
Grand Ridge Rail Trail
Boolarra - Mirboo North13km one way
Swing through enchanting hilly countryside and eucalypt forest with a background track of birdsong. This gently ascending trail, complete with two arch bridges, makes for a scenic bushland ride or walk.
Lyrebird Walk
Walk along the bush track alongside a gentle stream with the sun filtering through the tall trees and a gentle stream. Break up the weekend away with the striking contrast of this forest with the surrounding South Gippsland farmland region.
If you don’t spot a shy lyrebird, you may encounter other beauties in the area including white-throated treecreepers, cockatoos, robins, brown thornbills, thrushes, laughing kookaburras and crimson rosellas.
Latrobe Regional Gallery
Established in 1971, Latrobe Regional Gallery is one of the largest public galleries in eastern Victoria, with seven gallery spaces and a changing exhibition program that offers a blend of unique local perspectives, curated exhibitions and artworks in their collection.
A dedicated space for children to create and experience art, inspired by their exhibitions and collections, is sure to delight. LRG produce a dynamic public program of events, exhibitions tours, workshops and art education programs.
Located in the heart of Morwell, Latrobe Regional Gallery is a short walk from Morwell Train Station and there is plenty of parking nearby. Latrobe Regional Gallery is a 90 minute drive from Melbourne along the Princes Freeway (Exit B460).
Tarra Bulga National Park
This little pocket of rainforest (the cool temperate kind) is one of the last remaining in the state. In this secret land, it’s as if you’ve unknowingly taken the “Drink Me” potion: walking trails are dwarfed by giant ferns and towering mountain ash trees. Fronds of ancient myrtle beech stretch from either side of the path creating an emerald canopy pierced by thin shafts of sunlight.
ARC Yinnar
arc Yinnar, located in the old Yinnar Butter Factory, has the snack-sized town firmly planted on the arts trail with its gallery, theatre and gift shop. The exquisite range of jewellery, glass and artworks are available for purchase.
